Grocery Shopping On A Budget

Groceries
Saving money has become top priority for all of us. One necessity that remains is food…but it doesn’t have to cost a king’s ransom to feed your family.
The most important thing to remember when planning a trip to the grocery store is to make a list of what you need to get. Stores count on people who come in just to grab a “few items for dinner”…and walk out with two grocery carts.
Items such as rice and pasta are non-perishable…buy these in bulk. Meat should be bought on sale (meats can be frozen for later use), and buy store brands for canned and boxed goods. (you’re paying extra for packaging and advertising when you buy name brands…not quality).
Avoid buying ready to eat foods…it may take a little extra time to make things yourself, but it will save a lot more money. Make meals ahead when there is the time to do it and freeze them for later use.

Coupons are another good money saver. A couple of tips for keeping them organized is to group according to type of food, and place the coupons that expire earlier at the top. That way you won’t be stuck with a bunch of expired coupons!
DON’T go to shopping for food when you are hungry…this will lead to buying things not needed. Buy food that will stretch…a beef roast can last for days as sandwiches, and the bones can be used for making stocks for soups and stews. Shop at farmer’s markets for produce.
These are just a few tips to keep your pantry stocked without digging too deeply into the wallet.

I always use coupons when I go shopping. I saw the ad for the free coupons and it looks great. You can pick out the coupons you want and print them out. I know I am getting old but it seems like just yesterday when you had to clip them from newspapers and magazines – of course I will still do that too.
I never used coupons till I married a money saver man and he always uses them for food and for the kids they help allot and in a years time you can save hundreds of dollars just by using coupons.
